Belding Superintendent Brent Noskey Achieves 99% Rating in Evaluation

BREAKING: Belding Area Schools Superintendent Brent Noskey has just received an impressive 99% rating in his annual evaluation, confirming his effectiveness in leadership after a decade at the helm. The school board unanimously endorsed this score during a meeting on October 16, 2023, highlighting Noskey’s commitment to the district and community.

Noskey’s evaluation, which resulted in an “effective” rating, was based on five critical categories: governance and board relations, community relations, staff relations, business and finance, and instructional leadership. Noskey excelled, scoring the maximum of 3 in four out of five categories and earning a 2.86 in staff relations.

“Good, pretty good. Exceptional. Efficient,” said Terry Boni, President of the Belding Area Schools Board of Education. “We found Mr. Noskey just as effective as he was before.” This score marks a continuation of Noskey’s track record, with Boni noting he has never received below a 92% rating throughout his tenure.

Noskey, who has been with Belding since 2016, has faced numerous challenges, including managing a significant enrollment decline from 1,875 students in the 2016-17 school year to 1,652 in 2024-25. This represents a drop of 12% over nine years. Despite these challenges, the district has maintained a stable financial standing, with a general fund balance regularly between 15% to 20% of annual expenditures.

In response to his high evaluation score, Noskey expressed gratitude towards his board and administrative team. “I could not do this job without my administrative team, and almost all of them have been with me all 10 years that I’ve been here,” he stated. “Being visible and creating relationships across the district is what helps the district get a positive name for itself.”

Boni emphasized the importance of community relations, noting that Noskey’s presence at district events contributes significantly to the school’s positive image. “He reaches out to everybody and he’s always at every event,” Boni added. “His relationship with the staff has really shined. He’s hiring the right people, and that’s very important for the district.”

The evaluation process included board discussions highlighting Noskey’s ability to foster a supportive environment among staff while maintaining a collaborative relationship with the board. “We have a good board, a great board, and because we’re willing to work with Mr. Noskey, that helps both of us to develop a good school system,” Boni remarked.

Looking forward, the board’s consistent support promises to bolster Noskey’s initiatives and the district’s future direction. With his current base salary at $157,725, there were no changes to his contract following this evaluation.

As Belding Area Schools prepares for the upcoming school year, Noskey’s strong leadership and community engagement will remain critical to navigating the challenges ahead. The board’s unanimous approval of his evaluation underscores their trust in his vision for the district.

This news is generating significant interest among parents and community members, eager to see how Noskey’s leadership will continue to shape the educational landscape in Belding.
