PCM Girls Wrestling Team Achieves Mixed Results at Duals

The PCM girls wrestling team showcased a competitive spirit at the Woodward-Granger dual tournament on December 1, 2023, concluding the event with a split record of two wins and two losses. The Mustangs achieved victories against North Polk and Clarke, while facing defeats against Woodward-Granger and Dallas Center-Grimes.

In the match against Clarke, PCM secured a convincing 42-23 victory. The Mustangs were dominant in the forfeit category, claiming five of the six available forfeits, although they were only 2-3 in contested matches. Notable performances included wins by Hadley Millang and Addison Fry, both of whom secured victories by fall in their respective weight classes of 135 and 115 pounds.

The dual against North Polk was a close contest, with PCM edging out their opponents based on criteria after accumulating six forfeit wins. Millang recorded an impressive victory at 135 pounds, achieving a pin in just eleven seconds. Despite this, the Mustangs had a challenging day in contested matches, finishing with a 1-3 record.

In their dual against host Woodward-Granger, PCM faced a tougher challenge, ultimately losing 48-28. The Mustangs were 5-2 in contested matches against them. Millang contributed another pin to her record, while Emma Beyer achieved an 18-7 major decision win at 170 pounds. Both teams had three forfeits, with wins for PCM coming from Lily Birkenholtz, Ryan DeVore, and Fry.

The toughest match of the day for PCM came against Dallas Center-Grimes, where they suffered a significant loss of 60-18. Millang was the only wrestler to secure a contested win, achieving a fall in the first period. The team faced difficulties, finishing 1-7 in contested matches while managing only two wins from forfeits.

Overall, Emma Beyer finished the tournament with a perfect record of 4-0, including three wins by forfeit. Millang concluded her day with a strong performance, going 3-1 with three pins. Other wrestlers, including Holly Wood, Macie Kain, Carly Wilkerson, Birkenholtz, DeVore, Fry, and Courtney Cole, each recorded a balanced record of 2-2.
