Dunwoody, which boasts a population of 51,844, was specifically lauded for its innovative approach to transparency and community engagement. This recognition was announced at the National League of Cities “City Summit” held in Salt Lake City. Dunwoody stood out among cities with populations of up to 75,000, showcasing its commitment to applying technology where it matters most—improving citizen services.
“What stands out this year isn’t just the technology, it’s the focus on the impact on constituent services,” stated Teri Takai, Chief Programs Officer at the CDG. “These cities are applying innovation where it matters most: keeping people housed, making streets safer, and building community trust.”
Dunwoody’s achievements are not just theoretical. The city has launched an open checkbook, an online records portal, and implemented SeeClickFix to streamline service requests. Public safety initiatives in Dunwoody have also embraced cutting-edge technology. The new Real-Time Crime Center integrates data from advanced sources such as Flock Safety drones, Live911, and ForceMetrics AI to improve situational awareness and response times. “Being recognized nationally affirms that our efforts are making a difference here at home,” said Ginger LePage, Dunwoody’s Technology Director, expressing pride in the team’s dedication to leveraging tech advancements for the community.
The CDG’s recognition also underscores the remarkable transformation of Dunwoody’s IT infrastructure. A significant overhaul of the city’s network, alongside a major shift of systems to the cloud, has been complemented by a comprehensive business resiliency plan to ensure uninterrupted services across various departments. “This award highlights how our commitment to innovation directly strengthens services for our residents,” emphasized Eric Linton, Dunwoody City Manager.
