Nelly Korda Engaged to Businessman Casey Gunderson After Split

Nelly Korda, a prominent figure on the LPGA Tour, has announced her engagement to businessman Casey Gunderson. The 27-year-old golfer shared the news on social media, showcasing several professional photographs of the couple together. This announcement follows Korda’s recent split from professional hockey player Andreas Athanasiou, marking a new chapter in her personal life.

Korda, currently ranked No. 2 in the world after losing her top position to Jeeno Thitikul, has received an outpouring of support following her engagement. The post quickly went viral, racking up nearly 115,000 likes and drawing congratulations from various sports figures, including WNBA star Caitlin Clark. Unlike her previous relationship, details about Gunderson remain largely private, allowing the couple to maintain a lower profile.

Engaged to Gunderson, Korda has transitioned from a relationship with Athanasiou, who is currently a free agent in the NHL. The Canadian hockey player was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 2012 and has also played for teams like the Edmonton Oilers and Chicago Blackhawks. Korda and Athanasiou began dating in 2019 but reportedly separated three years later.

Gunderson, who graduated from Bryant University, has established a successful career in business. He began as an associate with Bisnow before joining Florida Engineering LLC, where he now serves as Vice President. The company focuses on developing commercial and residential projects across Florida and other key states. Although Gunderson did not pursue a career in professional sports, he played football during his high school years at Cardinal Mooney High School and the IMG Academy.

The engagement comes during a challenging year for Korda, who has yet to secure a victory in 2025. Despite being a top contender, she finished as a runner-up in two tournaments, including a near-win at the Women’s U.S. Open. Losing her World No. 1 ranking has been a tough adjustment, but Korda remains hopeful about her future.

“I feel like there were a lot of ups and downs, and it made me grow a lot mentally,” Korda stated. “I would say I’m just also very grateful for it because, you know, success is never linear.”

Clark, who has grown close to Korda, echoed her sentiments about the golfer’s resilience and dedication. Reflecting on their time together at the 2025 LPGA Annika pro-am, Clark remarked, “It’s been cool to watch her over the course of the last year. She put in a lot of time to create her own personal experience, unique to her and what she’s passionate about.”

As Korda prepares for her wedding, the sports community continues to rally around her, celebrating both her personal and professional milestones. With optimism for the upcoming season, Korda aims to reclaim her position at the top of the LPGA Tour while embarking on this exciting new journey with Gunderson.
