Chester Man Charged with Homicide After Fatal Shooting Incident

A domestic dispute escalated into a tragic shooting in Chester, Pennsylvania, on the evening of October 22, 2025. Police responded to emergency calls about gunfire on the 500 block of Dorian Drive, which resulted in one man dead and another injured. The Chester Police Department reported that officers were dispatched at around 18:23 local time and were met with further gunfire upon arrival, prompting them to treat the situation as an active shooter incident.

Upon securing the area, officers discovered two individuals outside the residence. One man was found with a gunshot wound to the hand, while the other, identified as 36-year-old Kyle Rhyanes, was unharmed. Both were moved to safety as police conducted a thorough search of the premises.

Inside the residence, authorities found 35-year-old Corey Rhyanes, who was unresponsive and suffered a gunshot wound to the neck. Medics pronounced him dead at 18:44. Investigators believe that a confrontation occurred between several individuals, including Kyle Rhyanes, Corey Rhyanes, Tonia Rhyanes, and Ka’Brea Johnson, who had arrived together at the Dorian Drive location.

Following this confrontation, Corey Rhyanes was fatally wounded, leading to the arrest of Kyle Rhyanes. He faces multiple charges, including criminal homicide, first-degree murder, third-degree murder, voluntary and involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, and various weapons-related offenses. He was arraigned on October 24, 2025, before Magisterial District Judge David Griffin and is currently held at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility without bail.
