BREAKING: Walter Bernard Ament, aged 93, has passed away on October 28, 2025, at his daughter’s home, surrounded by loved ones. This heartfelt loss resonates deeply with family and friends who remember him as a man of extraordinary talents and a devoted family man.
Ament was born on June 5, 1932, in Bluffton, Minnesota. Throughout his life, he embraced numerous roles including farmer, miner, logger, and even a cowboy. His loving spirit shone brightly as he nurtured his family and shared vivid stories, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he met.
On January 21, 1956, he married his pen pal and best friend, Dorothy Blotti, and together they forged a beautiful family in Morgan Park, Minnesota. Despite spending most of his life in Minnesota, Walter maintained close ties with his nine siblings and extended family on the west coast.
Walter’s legacy includes his daughter, Pamella (Dan) Wallgren, and Mary (Mike) Johnson, alongside granddaughters Emily, Kate, and Anna Johnson. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Alice Otto, and many other relatives, friends, and beloved grand-dogs.
The family expressed profound gratitude to the compassionate hospice staff from Essentia Health, especially Brandy, Cindy, and Nate, as well as the Care Planning Institute and drivers from Medspeed.
Visitation will take place on November 7, 2025, from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, located at 2410 Morris Thomas Road. Father Anthony Craig will officiate the ceremony, followed by burial at Oneota Cemetery with military honors from the Duluth Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, honoring Walter’s spirit of generosity.
