Landmark Admin, which manages insurance services for six companies, has agreed to pay $6 million to settle claims related to a data leak that compromised sensitive customer information.
The breach, which occurred between May 13 and June 17, 2024, has raised serious concerns about cybersecurity practices. Plaintiffs argue that better security measures could have prevented this incident, which reportedly exposed critical data, including Social Security numbers, for customers of six insurance firms: American Benefit Life Insurance Company, Liberty Bankers Life Insurance Company, and others.
Affected individuals have until December 26, 2024, to file claims for compensation. Those who can provide documented proof of out-of-pocket losses linked to the breach, such as fraud or identity theft, may claim up to $2,500. Claims submitted without proof can receive a maximum of $30, but that amount may fluctuate based on the total number of successful claims.
Claimants are advised to submit financial documents, such as bank statements or credit reports, to validate their losses. It is crucial to act promptly, as missing the December deadline means forfeiting the chance for compensation.
The deadline for objections to the settlement payout was November 25, 2024, and the final approval hearing is scheduled for January 29, 2026. After this date, payments will begin to be distributed.
