An all-women’s event titled “What No One Told Us” is set to take place in Tucson, Arizona, on March 21, 2024. The gathering aims to provide a supportive environment where women can openly discuss topics they typically keep to themselves. Scheduled to run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the American Eat Company, the event has an admission fee of $50, which includes lunch. Tickets must be purchased by March 18.
The event is the brainchild of Rebecca Sterling, who conceived the idea after experiencing the isolation many women feel when confronted with personal questions. “After I had a baby, I had all these questions about what was happening with my body, how to prepare for my children’s future, and how to manage my new marriage,” Sterling explained. This event aims to create a platform for women to express their concerns and receive guidance from experts.
Topics Addressed by Expert Speakers
Sterling, along with co-hosts Jade Blair and Victoria Jones, has organized a series of discussions featuring knowledgeable speakers. They will cover a diverse range of subjects, including health, finance, and relationships. Sterling noted the importance of addressing women’s health at various life stages, stating, “We want to cater to everyone, from the 16-year-old learning about her body to the 60-year-old facing changes.”
The first hour will focus on relationships, addressing the pervasive feeling of living in “survival mode.” Sterling described this state as one where individuals constantly feel rushed and overwhelmed. “We want to help women understand how to break free from that cycle,” she said.
The second segment will delve into women’s health, featuring two doctors who will discuss infertility, postpartum issues, and the physiological changes women experience throughout their lives. This information is particularly relevant for attendees looking for clarity on these often-taboo subjects.
Financial Empowerment for Women
The final hour will tackle personal finance, a subject many women find challenging. Sterling expressed the need for practical advice, saying, “Our parents often advise us to save money, but how do we actually do that in today’s economy?” The discussion will aim to empower women to take control of their finances, whether independently or with a partner.
Participants are encouraged to come prepared with questions and to take notes during the event. “Knowledge is power, and that’s the biggest takeaway. The more we learn, the more empowered we become,” Sterling emphasized.
