BREAKING: A suspect has been arrested and charged with murder and arson following a horrific incident in Lawndale, Chicago, earlier this year. Deparris Slaughter, a 32-year-old from Munster, Indiana, is now facing serious charges linked to the violent death of a man and subsequent body dismemberment.
The Chicago Police Department announced the arrest on Saturday, revealing that Slaughter is charged with First Degree Murder, Residential Arson, Dismembering a Human Body, and Conceal Homicidal Death. This shocking crime took place on March 7, when police and firefighters responded to a house fire on South Kirkland Avenue just before 9 p.m.
Upon extinguishing the flames, first responders discovered the body of a 68-year-old man inside the residence. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the victim died from gunshot wounds to the neck and chest. Disturbingly, sources indicate that his arms and one leg had been dismembered.
