McNeese State Banners Series Kicks Off March 1 with Exciting Events

URGENT UPDATE: The highly anticipated McNeese State Banners Series launches on March 1, 2026, promising an exhilarating season filled with arts and intellectual stimulation. The opening reception, set from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the 1911 Historic City Hall, is FREE and welcomes everyone to experience a vibrant array of performances and discussions.

This year marks the 34th annual celebration of the Banners Series, which is renowned for its diverse offerings. Attendees can expect an eclectic mix of music, from 17th-century classics to lively rock and pop. The season will also feature readings by poets and novelists, alongside an engaging political discussion reflecting on the United States’ 250-year history.

Director Brook Hanemann describes the series as a “buffet” of cultural experiences, inviting participants to explore beloved art forms while discovering new ones. “That spirit of curiosity is at the heart of what we do,” Hanemann stated.

The opening reception will feature live music from Sean Hager and delicious culinary treats, including jambalaya and sweets. The McNeese Student Art Association will showcase student artwork, adding to the celebration’s local flavor.

Membership packages are available, ranging from $80 to $550 for all events, including exclusive access to the fall’s Rouge et Blanc wine and food event. Individual event tickets will be priced at $20, with free admission for students from McNeese and SOWELA Technical Community College.

The Banners Series will run from March 1 to April 30, featuring a total of 16 events that cater to a wide audience. Highlights include:
