Marin Athletic Foundation Inducts 10 Legends into Hall of Fame

URGENT UPDATE: The Marin Athletic Foundation is set to honor an exceptional class of 10 inductees into its Hall of Fame on Saturday, February 3, 2025, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael. This remarkable group represents decades of athletic excellence at local, state, national, and international levels.

These inductees not only excelled in their sports but also served as mentors, coaches, and educators, profoundly impacting countless young athletes. Among the honored are Mike Saia, former boys basketball coach at Marin Catholic, and Matt Swanson, a celebrated water polo coach at Archie Williams High, both of whom have inspired generations to pursue athletic success.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Hall of Fame, focusing on athletes who graduated before 2003. The inductees include:

Linda Bowman Segre (Terra Linda, 1977)
Dirk Correnti (San Rafael, 1972)
Joe Ford (San Rafael, 1988)
Ken Frost (Redwood, 1962)
Daniel Munoz (Marin Catholic, 1996)
Dana (Simon) Paskowitz (Terra Linda, 1990)
Shelli (Maher) Sarchett (San Rafael, 1996)

Additionally, Don Meroff will receive special recognition for his contributions as an educator and cross country supporter. Meroff founded the Marin County Middle School/Junior High Cross Country Championship and has been a pivotal figure in promoting fitness and competition among youth.

Linda Segre Bowman stands out for her impressive golf career, winning multiple championships and qualifying for the 2019 U.S. Senior Women’s Open. Dirk Correnti, known for his achievements in football and wrestling, was a key player during San Rafael High’s 1971 MCAL co-championship run. Joe Ford earned accolades in football, basketball, and baseball and later became a military pilot.

Ken Frost, an NCS champion and two-time All-American swimmer, made history by setting international records. Daniel Munoz emerged as a three-sport star at Marin Catholic, while Shelli Maher Sarchett achieved All-American status in softball at Humboldt State.

The induction ceremony promises to be a celebration of athletic achievements and community impact, showcasing how these individuals have dedicated their lives to sports and education.
