Lorraine F. Lease Passes Away at 94, Leaving Lasting Legacy

BREAKING: Lorraine F. Lease, aged 94, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospice in Bethlehem, PA, on January 9, 2026. The community mourns the loss of a beloved educator and volunteer, who dedicated over 30 years to teaching in the Bethlehem Area School District.

Born on December 11, 1931, in Upper Darby, PA, Lorraine was the daughter of Robert and Cora Florey. After graduating from Liberty High School, she earned her teaching degree from Kutztown University and a Master’s degree from Lehigh University. She inspired countless young learners during her two-decade tenure in the Bethlehem schools.

Lorraine was also a passionate volunteer, contributing her time to organizations such as Meals on Wheels and the Allentown Art Museum. Her community service extended to the Moravian Village chorus, where she found joy in singing and connecting with fellow residents.

In retirement, Lorraine and her late husband, George M. Lease, enjoyed a vibrant life filled with travel, sports, and reading. She was known for her love of crossword puzzles and cherished moments spent with family and friends.

Lorraine leaves behind her sisters, Althea Lazun and Joyce Hess, along with stepdaughters Joan Johnson and Susan Baier. She is also survived by a large extended family, including six step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren, who will honor her memory.

A memorial service is scheduled for March 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Central Moravian Chapel. A private inurnment will follow at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
