UPDATE: A Long Island man has just been convicted of first-degree murder for a horrific assault that left his longtime friend dead after a night of drinking in the Hamptons. Jeremy Allen, 44, brutally stabbed, suffocated, and beat Christopher Hahn, 43, over a chilling six-hour ordeal that began on September 27, 2024, at Allen’s home in East Quogue.
The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office revealed that Allen initiated the violent attack shortly after midnight, mercilessly striking Hahn for an astonishing 18 minutes. The chilling sounds of that assault were captured on surveillance footage outside Allen’s residence.
Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney stated, “This defendant betrayed a bond of friendship in the most horrific way imaginable, and today’s verdict holds him accountable.” He emphasized the “deliberate cruelty” witnessed during the trial, thanking the prosecution team and the Suffolk Police’s Homicide Squad for their relentless efforts in securing justice for the victim.
Allen and Hahn had a longstanding friendship that dated back to high school. The two began their evening at a local bar, indulging in alcohol before continuing the festivities at Allen’s home. The atmosphere turned nightmarish as Allen suddenly turned on his friend, leaving him semi-conscious on a rear deck.
However, the brutality did not end there. Prosecutors detailed that Allen returned to the scene wielding a baseball bat, relentlessly pounding Hahn before suffocating him with a plastic bag. Authorities reported that Allen then stabbed Hahn in the neck ten times, watching as his friend gasped for life over the next six hours.
In a desperate attempt to hide his actions, Allen reached out to a handyman to help clean up the bloodied scene. However, the handyman fled to notify law enforcement, leading to Allen’s arrest shortly after. He was charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence.
After a thorough trial, a Suffolk County jury found Allen guilty on Wednesday. He is now facing a potential life without parole sentence, with sentencing scheduled for February 26.
This shocking case highlights the depths of betrayal and violence that can emerge from seemingly ordinary relationships. As the community grapples with the aftermath, the focus will now shift to the sentencing and the implications for those affected by this tragic event.
