UPDATE: In a heartwarming effort to fight food insecurity, Hy-Vee and Hormel Foods are distributing 300 Hormel Cure 81 hams to local families in Rochester, Minnesota, TODAY, December 2, 2025. The giveaway, part of the annual “Hams for the Holidays” initiative, is taking place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Rochester Armory.
This initiative aims to provide essential support during the holiday season, delivering a total of 5,000 hams across 20 different locations in Hy-Vee’s nine-state region. Chad Launderville, a store director with Hy-Vee, expressed gratitude for the community’s support, stating, “Hy-Vee’s done a lot of great things this year for the community.” He highlighted previous initiatives, including free meals for children and Thanksgiving food bags donated to Rochester Public Schools.
The “Hams for the Holidays” program, now in its eighth year, has been instrumental in addressing food insecurity among families. With thousands of families struggling this holiday season, the need for such community efforts has never been more critical.
Residents are encouraged to arrive early as supplies are limited. This event not only provides a festive meal for families but also fosters a sense of community during a time when many are in need.
