Hillsborough County Launches Urgent Food Pantry Events for Holidays

UPDATE: Hillsborough County is taking immediate action to combat food insecurity this holiday season by launching festive food pantry events in collaboration with Feeding Tampa Bay. Starting next Thursday, residents will have access to essential food supplies, ensuring that families can celebrate without the burden of hunger.

The county’s Healthy Living Program confirms that these food distribution events will take place on November 2, 2023, at the Lee Davis Healthy Living Center and on November 3, 2023, at both the Plant City and SouthShore Healthy Living Centers. Anyone aged 18 or over is eligible to receive these vital resources, regardless of income level, reflecting a commitment to making nutritious food accessible to all.

This initiative is particularly crucial as many families face increased pressure during the festive season. Each food package will include fresh produce, meats, and pantry staples, with additional distributions planned for December. The Healthy Living Program aims not only to alleviate immediate hunger but also to promote long-term health and wellness in the community.

In addition to food distribution, the Healthy Living Program is enhancing its services this holiday season. Residents will have free access to exercise rooms, group fitness classes, and nutrition consultations at four designated Healthy Living Centers. This holistic approach emphasizes the importance of both physical and nutritional health, offering residents comprehensive support during this challenging time.

People in need are encouraged to visit the Healthy Living Program’s website for further details or to contact them directly for assistance. The program is not acting alone; partnerships with local organizations such as ECHO, the United Food Bank of Plant City, and the St. Anne Catholic Church Food Pantry will provide additional food and clothing support across Hillsborough County.

As the holiday season unfolds, the Healthy Living Program is determined to ensure that residents receive the assistance they need. With the first events just days away, the time for action is now. Share this important news to help spread awareness and support your community during the holidays.
