After a sluggish start, where they shot just 17.6% from the field in the first quarter, the Gophers managed to rally. Tori McKinney led the charge with 14 points, while Mara Braun contributed 13 points and Grace Grocholski added 12 points. Despite a valiant effort, Minnesota could not secure the victory as they fell behind early, trailing by as much as 10 points.
The Gophers found their rhythm, outscoring Kansas 19-11 in the second quarter to take a brief lead of 25-23. However, Kansas regained control and maintained a lead throughout most of the second half. Minnesota tied the game at 49-all but could not close the gap as the Jayhawks sealed their win from the free-throw line.
Overall, Minnesota struggled from the field, shooting 34.4% for the game and only 21.7% from three-point range.
