Born on October 23, 1942, Jerry’s journey began in Keewatin, MN, where he graduated from Keewatin High School in 1960. He furthered his education at the University of Minnesota Duluth, earning a degree in Business in 1965. That same year, he married Sandy Swanstrom, with whom he had two daughters. After their divorce, he married Cathy Crockett, adding two more daughters to his family before experiencing another divorce.
Jerry’s professional life was defined by his commitment to the JCPenney Company, where he climbed the ranks in various management roles throughout the Midwest. His career peaked at the corporate headquarters in Plano, TX, before he relocated to Sioux Falls, SD, to manage a local store until his retirement.
Following his retirement, Jerry deepened his faith and became actively involved in church ministries in Sioux Falls, where he mentored others and supported outreach initiatives. His generous spirit extended to organizations like The United Way and The Gideons, showcasing his dedication to community service.
Later in life, Jerry moved to Winona to be closer to two of his daughters and their families. He cherished the moments spent with his 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, often attending their sporting events, demonstrating his unwavering support and love for his family.
Jerry is survived by his daughters Kerrie Maynard, Dawn Appicelli, Courtney Rangel, and Ashley Rebarchek, along with his sister Charlene Gunelson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepfather, and siblings.
