URGENT UPDATE: A chaotic party in Chesterton ended with both hosts, Keshawn Lamar Stephens, 27, and Tiffany Amber Wilfong, 30, behind bars following a violent altercation. The incident occurred on December 20, 2023, and has raised serious concerns due to the presence of a minor.
According to police reports, the evening escalated quickly when witnesses observed Stephens strike Wilfong multiple times in the head and face. The Chesterton Police were initially alerted by a 911 hang-up call. Wilfong answered the door, claiming no assistance was needed. However, moments later, she dialed back, reporting that Stephens had bear-hugged her when she asked him to leave. In a desperate act of self-defense, she stated that she stabbed him with a pair of scissors.
Police soon discovered that the situation had worsened. A “trail of blood” led officers to an upstairs bathroom, where they found Stephens hiding in a bathtub. Police Corporal Darren Conley reported that a tourniquet was applied to Stephens’ arm before he was transported to the hospital for further treatment.
The couple now faces serious charges, including Level 5 and Level 6 felony counts of domestic battery, and neglect of a dependent, as a minor was present during the incident. Additionally, Stephens faces a misdemeanor charge for violating a court order prohibiting contact with Wilfong, stemming from a previous battery offense involving her.
While Wilfong has since posted a $1,500 bond for her release, Stephens remains in custody at the Porter County Jail. This incident has shocked the local community, highlighting the dangers of domestic violence and its repercussions.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the events that led up to this violent clash. Residents are urged to remain aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity.
