UPDATE: A fatal crash on U.S. 290 near 34th Street in Houston has left one person dead and shut down all outbound lanes as authorities investigate. The incident occurred early Monday, with reports coming in around 3:10 a.m.
Houston police and fire crews responded to the scene to find multiple individuals injured and a heavily damaged sedan. Despite firefighters’ attempts to perform CPR, one victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second individual was transported to a hospital, though it remains unclear if they were in the sedan or elsewhere at the time of the crash. Authorities also discovered a motorcycle approximately 100 yards from the crash site, but have yet to confirm any connection to the deceased.
The Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division is actively leading the investigation, documenting the scene and collecting evidence. All outbound lanes of U.S. 290 were closed for several hours, causing significant traffic delays.
