Elderly Woman Dies, Firefighters Hurt in College Point Blaze

URGENT UPDATE: An 85-year-old woman tragically lost her life, and two firefighters sustained injuries while battling a fierce house fire in College Point, New York, early this morning. The FDNY responded to the emergency call at 5:16 a.m. regarding a fire on the first floor of a private residence located at 124-07 26th Ave.

A swift response from 14 units and 70 firefighters enabled the team to bring the blaze under control by 6:37 a.m.. During the chaotic search for victims, rescuers found the elderly woman unconscious and unresponsive inside the home.
