UPDATE: Coon Rapids City Hall has officially launched its urgent ‘Season of Giving’ donation drive, calling on residents to contribute to local charities in need. This initiative kicks off on November 24, 2023, and runs until December 15, 2023, with donation drop-off available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 11155 Robinson Drive.
This holiday season, the drive aims to support families in the community by collecting essential items for various charities. Collection bins are conveniently located in the front lobby of City Hall and at additional drop-off sites including the Coon Rapids Ice Center, Bunker Hills Golf Club, and all Coon Rapids Fire Stations.
Residents are encouraged to donate non-perishable foods, new and unwrapped toys, winter coats, and toiletries. Specific needs include high-demand items such as flour, oil, and baby food requested by the ACBC Food Shelf. Toys for Joy is seeking new toys for children aged 12-18, particularly small electronics and gift cards. Alexandra House has appealed for winter coats and children’s boots, while Granny’s Closet needs personal care items, including men’s razors and laundry detergent.
The initiative is more than just a donation drive; it represents a powerful act of community building. By supporting these charities, residents not only brighten the holidays for many but also help alleviate everyday struggles faced by families in need.
For a comprehensive list of suggested donation items, visit the City of Coon Rapids website. Each item collected directly aids local families and reinforces the support network within the community.
Next Steps: As the holiday season approaches, residents are urged to act quickly to ensure their contributions make a meaningful impact. The time to give is now—join the ‘Season of Giving’ and help transform lives in Coon Rapids this holiday season.
