UPDATE: The Stewartville community has united in a powerful show of support, raising over $25,000 for families affected by the tragic shooting at Stewartville High School. A GoFundMe campaign initiated by the Stewartville Wrestling Booster Club has surpassed its initial goal of $22,000 as of Sunday evening, December 14, 2025.
This outpouring of generosity comes in the wake of a devastating incident that occurred on Friday morning, December 12, when a student was critically injured and an adult male was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound around 5 a.m.. The shooting took place in the parking lot as the school’s wrestling team prepared to head to a tournament in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
In a heartfelt message shared on Facebook, the wrestling club expressed profound sorrow:
“On behalf of the Stewartville Wrestling Booster Club, we are deeply saddened by the tragic event that occurred in our community. Our hearts are with the victims, their families, friends, coaches, and everyone affected.”
The club emphasized the community’s core values of strength and unity, urging residents to support one another during this challenging time.
The identities of those involved have not yet been disclosed, but Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. He stated, “We don’t know anything that led up to this at all, at this point,” during a press conference shortly after the incident. A further briefing is scheduled for Monday, where more details are expected.
In addition to the GoFundMe initiative, community members can contribute to the cause at any Eagle Rock Bank branch by referencing the “Stewartville Wrestling Benefit Account.” Local businesses, including Full Court Custom Apparel Inc., are also stepping up, donating 100% of proceeds from shirt sales to support the victims’ families.
The wrestling community has rallied impressively, with competing programs such as Dover-Eyota, Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Century, and Mayo contributing hundreds of dollars to the fundraising effort. Notably, the Clash National Wrestling Duals made a significant donation of $1,000 to the families in need.
As the community grieves and supports those impacted, the focus remains on healing and solidarity. The funds raised will directly benefit the families grappling with this horrific tragedy, showcasing the strength and resilience of Stewartville.
