Church Founder Delivers 2,400 Bagels to Lynn Educators Today

URGENT UPDATE: In a heartwarming initiative, Greg Byrd, founder of the upcoming Navigation Church, delivered 2,400 bagels to all Lynn Public Schools educators this morning, fueling their spirits ahead of a full day of professional development. This Love Your Teacher event, which took place earlier today, brought together a dedicated team of volunteers who ensured that every teacher enjoyed a warm bagel before the start of their day.

Byrd, who recently relocated his family to Lynn, Massachusetts in 2024, expressed his commitment to uplifting the community even before his church officially opens. “If you’re doing something good, people want to be a part of it. It’s cool to see the community come together,” he shared.

In collaboration with Tony Rosenfeld of One Mighty Mill, Byrd secured the bagels, while local elected officials contributed cream cheese to enhance the offering. By 8:30 a.m., over two dozen volunteers had successfully delivered the bagels to schools, making a significant impact on the educators’ day.

This initiative is just a glimpse of Byrd’s mission. Originally from Patterson, New Jersey, he left a stable job in Pennsylvania to pursue what he describes as a higher calling. “I had financial success, but this is about people having eternal success,” Byrd stated, emphasizing the importance of faith and community.

Byrd’s journey toward establishing Navigation Church began in 2023, when he started attending services at Restoration Church in Wakefield. He plans to officially open Navigation Church in September 2024, aiming to provide hope and support to those in need. “We seek to provide hope for those on the journey,” he explained. “I think the greatest hope is found in Christ.”

This morning’s event not only brightened the day of local educators but also demonstrated the power of community engagement and support. As Byrd builds his church and its mission, he continues to foster connections among residents, illustrating that positive change begins with small acts of kindness.

As more details about Navigation Church emerge, residents are encouraged to participate in upcoming events and to support Byrd’s vision for a united and hopeful community.
