URGENT UPDATE: As the holiday season approaches, culinary enthusiasts are gearing up for an exciting lineup of Christmas events! The 33rd annual Christmas with the Chefs will take place on Sunday, December 13, 2023, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa. This beloved event promises to kick off the festivities in style, showcasing exceptional local culinary talent.
Attendees can purchase early bird tickets for $135 online, making this a must-attend event for food lovers. Chef Ash Danao, the Executive Chef at the Outrigger, will lead the culinary charge. Growing up on a seven-acre coffee farm in Honaunau, Chef Ash emphasizes the importance of family gatherings and cultural diversity in his cooking.
“The diverse flavors of our many cultures were never-ending and brought everyone together,” Chef Ash shared. His extensive culinary background includes stints at prestigious venues like the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. Guests can look forward to innovative dishes such as Russet Potato Croissant with Savory Herbed Cream and Truffle Caviar, along with unique dessert offerings like Sweet Potato and White Chocolate Truffles.
In addition to the Christmas festivities in Kona, the Montage Kapalua Bay in Maui is set to host a series of events from December 12-15, 2023. This immersive experience features a collaboration with Chef Neal Maloney, a marine biologist and founder of California’s Morro Bay Oyster Company.
Kick off the celebration with a special evening at Champagne Hale on December 12, where guests can indulge in a unique oyster and champagne pairing event for $195 per person. The night will include coastal bites and an oyster raw bar, ensuring a memorable culinary experience.
On December 13, join the launch of the Friends of the Chef Series, where Chef Maloney and Chef Purpura will serve a curated four-course wine dinner featuring California-Hawaiian seafood cuisine.
On December 14, guests can participate in poolside oyster shucking at the newly renovated Sunset Pool, priced at $28 for half a dozen and $49 for a dozen.
