BREAKING NEWS: Antigone G. Sotos, aged 88, of West Lawn, has passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. Her death marks the end of an era for her family and friends, as she was a cherished matriarch known for her love and dedication.
Born on December 14, 1936, in Neochori, Greece, Antigone immigrated to the United States in 1963, where she carved out a remarkable life. She worked as a seamstress for Letisse, Inc. from 1963 to 1986, followed by Juliette Originals and Narrow Fabrics until 2002. Her work ethic and talent were matched only by her passion for her Greek heritage.
Antigone was predeceased by her devoted husband, Lambros G. Sotos, in 2014, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage. Together, they built a family that included three children: George L. Sotos, companion of Kelly Gahan; Fani L. Polyak, wife of James Polyak; and Eleni L. Sotos, residing in San Rafael, California.
Nothing brought Antigone more joy than her family. She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren: Samantha, Evan, Nicholas, Alexia, and Ajay, who will remember her lavish weekend meals and her ability to spoil them endlessly.
Antigone’s contributions extended beyond family life. She was an active member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Reading and previously belonged to St. Matthew’s Greek Orthodox Church. Her community involvement showcased her commitment to preserving Greek traditions.
The funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Sts. Constantine and Helen Church, located at 1001 East Wyomissing Blvd., Reading. Rev. Father Theodore Petrides will preside. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Following the service, interment will take place at Charles Evans Cemetery.
