Judson High School football head coach Mark Soto announced his resignation on Wednesday, concluding a notable career that spanned 31 years. Soto’s decision was shared through a heartfelt social media post, where he expressed gratitude to the community, stating, “Thank you Rocket Nation,” and indicated it was time to transition into a new phase of his life.
In his message, Soto remarked, “Now, I step away to reflect and prepare for the next chapter of a beautiful life built on football’s foundation.” He acknowledged the support and challenges he faced throughout his career, stating, “To everyone who believed in me, challenged me, and supported me along the way—I am blessed that we have crossed paths.”
During his tenure with the Rockets, Soto achieved a record of 17-28 over four seasons, which included three playoff appearances. Before taking the helm at Judson High School, he coached the Johnson High School football team for two years, where he attained an impressive 19-3 overall record, including a district record of 15-1. Additionally, Soto spent eight years coaching at San Marcos High School, further defining his extensive coaching background.
Soto’s connection to Judson High School runs deep; he graduated from the institution in 1991 and was part of legendary head coach D.W. Rutledge‘s team during their state championship victories in 1988 and 1990. Reflecting on his journey, Soto noted, “My dream of coaching the Judson Rockets was born on that field,” underscoring his long-standing ties to the program.
