Izzy Eisbach Signs with Northwest Missouri State University

Izzy Eisbach, a standout athlete from Nodaway Valley, has officially signed a national letter of intent with Northwest Missouri State University on November 14, 2023. This announcement solidifies her commitment that she had verbally declared in April. Eisbach, who led the state in scoring last year, is known for her versatility as a four-sport athlete, excelling in volleyball, basketball, track, and softball throughout her high school career.

Commitment to Excellence

Eisbach expressed her excitement about the signing, stating, “This feels amazing — it’s like it isn’t real, but this made it real for me. I am just so happy to finally sign.” Her journey to this point began in earnest after her sophomore year, as she garnered attention from colleges across the Midwest. Competing with the club team All-Iowa Attack significantly enhanced her visibility, leading to approximately 10 to 11 Division II offers.

During her junior year, Eisbach visited several colleges, including Pittsburg State University, Washburn University, and Truman State University. Ultimately, she felt a strong connection to Northwest Missouri, saying, “Northwest always felt like home and it felt special there. I had a call with their coach and felt that was the best decision for me.” Eisbach appreciates the supportive atmosphere there, which she likens to her own family environment back home.

Record-Breaking Performance

Eisbach has made significant contributions to her high school basketball program, breaking multiple records. She holds the record for points in a game with 51 points against Mount Ayr last season, as well as for three-pointers made in a game (nine) and three-pointers in a season (88). Her achievements extend to field goals made in a season, totaling 250, and steals, with 122 recorded last year. She is also tied for the highest number of field goals made in a game with 17 and for free throws made in a game with 12.

Last season, Eisbach received numerous accolades, including first-team all-conference, all-district, all-region, and all-state honors from the Iowa Print Sportswriters Association and the Iowa Girls Coaches Association. Additionally, she earned honorable mention on the Des Moines Register’s all-state team and was named to the academic all-conference list.

As she prepares for her final season with the Wolverines, Eisbach looks forward to playing alongside her teammates, particularly Emma Boswell, who transferred from Orient-Macksburg and led the state in rebounds in 2024. “I’m so excited for this senior season. It’s sad it’s our last, but I know we have some really big contributors this year,” she said, emphasizing her anticipation for the upcoming games.

Reflecting on her development, Eisbach noted, “I’m probably most proud of my sophomore season into my junior season because that’s probably where I grew my game the most. Knowing internally the work I put in and seeing it pay off in games, that’s the biggest thing for me.” With a promising future ahead at Northwest Missouri, Eisbach’s journey continues to inspire many in her community.
