Houston Rodeo 2026: Essential Parking, Savings, and Security Tips

As the 2026 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo approaches, officials are prioritizing a smooth experience for the expected millions of attendees. The event, commencing on March 2, 2026, at NRG Park, will utilize technology to enhance visitor convenience, including live parking updates and interactive food maps.

Parking remains a major concern for many attendees. Danielle Grossman, director of strategic communications for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, emphasizes the benefits of public transport. “My first piece of advice for folks coming is maybe take the METRORail if you can, because it’s $1.25, and logistically, it takes you right to the park,” she stated. For those opting to drive, several public lots, including the Yellow, 610, and OST lots, are available for a flat fee of $25. It’s crucial to note that the Rodeo is now cashless, and prepaying for parking online at rodeohouston.com is strongly recommended.

The Rodeo’s mobile app has been updated to include a live parking capacity feature, allowing attendees to view real-time availability of parking lots. This improvement aims to prevent drivers from wasting time looking for spaces during peak hours.

For families looking to save money, the Rodeo offers various discounts. Discounted Carnival Packs, which provide significant savings on rides and games, are available until Saturday, February 28, at midnight. This year, the Rodeo has introduced a $125 Mega Pack, a package valued at $500 that includes 150 carnival tickets and multiple food coupons. Grossman remarked, “We want to make this event inclusive and accessible to everyone. By offering this value, we’re allowing folks with bigger families to come and enjoy for less cost.”

Families can also take advantage of special promotions on Family Wednesdays and Community Day, which feature either free or discounted admission alongside $3 food specials in the Junction area.

Unlike many venues that have adopted strict clear bag policies, the Rodeo offers a more relaxed approach. “You don’t have to have a clear bag. Bring your diaper bags or whatever you need for your family,” Grossman said. Nevertheless, all bags will undergo security screenings, and certain items, including weapons and professional cameras with long lenses, are prohibited.

Once inside, the Rodeo app serves as a comprehensive guide for visitors. The “Plan Your Visit” feature allows guests to create customized schedules for events, including AGVENTURE and the Petting Zoo, as well as performances at the star stage inside NRG Stadium. Additionally, the app offers a searchable GPS for food, directing guests to specific vendors for popular treats like fried Oreos or foot-long corn dogs.

The 2026 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo promises to deliver an engaging experience for attendees, focusing on convenience, savings, and enjoyment. With careful planning and the use of available technology, visitors can look forward to a successful event.
