Newcomers Club Donates 485 Pounds of Food to Local Food Locker

The Newcomers Club of Chico made a significant contribution to the local community by donating 485 pounds of food and $120 in cash to the Food Locker on December 18. This generous act took place during their luncheon held at the Elks Lodge, where club members gathered to support a worthy cause.

The event featured Co-Presidents Janice Napier and Jenny Herman, who played key roles in organizing the donation. Alongside them was Paul Herman, Jenny’s husband, who assisted in the collection and delivery of the food items. This collaborative effort highlights the club’s commitment to addressing food insecurity in the Chico community.

In addition to this donation, the Newcomers Club encourages community members to share their experiences and contributions. They welcome submissions for their “snapshot” feature, which highlights local events such as service projects and guest speakers. Interested participants can send high-resolution images along with a brief description of the event to designated email addresses.

The Newcomers Club’s donation exemplifies the spirit of giving and community support. Such initiatives are crucial in fostering a sense of unity and helping those in need. Community involvement not only strengthens local ties but also raises awareness about ongoing challenges, such as food scarcity.

As the club continues its efforts to support local charities, they invite others to join in making a difference. By working together, community members can significantly impact those who rely on food assistance programs.

For further information on how to get involved or to submit snapshots of community events, residents are encouraged to reach out through the club’s official communication channels. This initiative not only showcases the contributions of local organizations but also encourages wider participation in charitable activities throughout the region.
