Join the Fun at Dog Days This Weekend at the Garden

Pet owners and dog enthusiasts are in for a treat this weekend as the Fort Worth Botanic Garden (FWBG) hosts its annual Dog Days event on March 16-17, 2024. This two-day celebration invites visitors to enjoy the serene beauty of the Garden alongside their furry companions. Regular hours for the event are from 08:00 to 18:00, with standard admission for humans and an additional fee of $5 per dog. Members of FWBG, both human and canine, can enter for free.

As part of the event, the Garden will provide hydration stations for dogs throughout the campus, ensuring that pets stay refreshed while exploring the grounds. This initiative highlights the Garden’s commitment to the well-being of all attendees, both human and animal.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, FWBG has outlined several guidelines for participants. All dogs must be leashed, over four months old, and up to date on vaccinations. Dogs in heat are not permitted, and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs, with waste bags available for use at designated areas.

While the event encourages interaction, dogs are not allowed inside the Rock Springs Café, the Rainforest Conservatory, or on trams. It is crucial that dogs are well-behaved and socialized; aggressive behavior may result in the Garden staff asking the owner to leave.

Guests are encouraged to stay on trails, pathways, and open lawn areas to protect the Garden’s horticultural displays. FWBG emphasizes that pet owners are fully responsible for their dogs and any incidents that may arise.

Visitors should also be mindful of interactions between dogs and guests who may not have pets, particularly children. It is advisable to ask permission before approaching unfamiliar dogs.

As a reminder, FWBG suggests that all guests wear sturdy walking shoes and take precautions against sun exposure. Everyone is encouraged to leave the Garden as they found it, collecting all items such as dog treats and waste before departing.

This weekend promises to be a delightful occasion for dog lovers and their companions, showcasing the beauty of the Garden while promoting responsible pet ownership.
