HospitalityMaine Honors 2025 Award Winners at Annual Summit

HospitalityMaine recently recognized outstanding individuals and organizations within the state’s hospitality sector at the annual summit, held on November 17-18, 2025, in Rockport, Maine. The event celebrated a range of achievements, highlighting the commitment and creativity that define the industry.

Gil Pilaster, head chef at The Causeway Restaurant in Spruce Head, received the prestigious title of Chef of the Year. Under his leadership, the restaurant, which is part of The Craignair Inn by the Sea, has garnered significant attention for its culinary offerings. Kathleen Pierce, Director of Membership and Communications for HospitalityMaine, praised Pilaster’s extensive journey through the state, stating he has “cooked his way across the state” and has left a remarkable impact on the dining scene.

In addition to Pilaster, Josh Miranda was honored as Restaurateur of the Year. Miranda is known for his ownership and co-ownership of various popular venues in Portland’s Old Port, including Blyth & Burrows, Off Track Pizza, Papi, and Via Vecchia. Pierce commended Miranda’s resilience and imaginative approach, noting that his story embodies “pure Maine grit and creativity.” The award not only recognizes his business success but also his dedication to fostering community through hospitality.

Other notable awardees included Katie Keene, who was named Innkeeper of the Year for her work at The Dunes on the Waterfront in Ogunquit, and Cheyenne Wright, who received the Employee of the Year award for her contributions to York Harbor Inn. Additionally, Paper Trails of Kennebunk was recognized as Allied Member of the Year.

“This recognition is really a hospitality badge of honor for the recipients,” Pierce commented, emphasizing the significance of these awards in celebrating the dedication and hard work of individuals in the hospitality sector.
