Community Remembers Gail K. Wold, 87, a Life of Service and Love

Gail K. Wold, aged 87, of West St. Paul, passed away, leaving a lasting legacy of faith, family, and community service. Her life was characterized by a deep commitment to music, volunteerism, and nurturing relationships with family and friends. Her passing is mourned by many, reflecting the impact she had on those around her.

Born as Gail Zinschlag, she was a prominent figure in her community, known for her dedication to her church and her passion for music. Wold served as a musician for over 70 years, sharing her talents within her congregation. She also directed a children’s church choir for more than 50 years, inspiring countless young individuals to explore their musical abilities.

Her family, which includes children Janelle (Todd) Rau and Kevin (Jodi) Wold, will remember her as a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by four grandchildren: Aaron (Kim), Emily (fiancé Jake), Griffin, and Shiloh, as well as two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Daniel. Wold is also remembered fondly by her brother-in-law, Paul (Linda) Wold, and her nieces and nephew, Julie, Mary, and Andy.

Wold’s commitment to service extended beyond her church. She volunteered at the Minnesota Zoo for over 45 years, demonstrating her love for animals and her desire to contribute to the community. Her enthusiasm for life and service inspired those who knew her, and her influence will be felt for generations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howie, and her parents, Gil and Ellen. Wold was a proud graduate of Park High School, Class of 1956, where her love for music began to flourish.

Community members are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on December 19, 2023, from 16:00 to 19:00 at King of Kings Lutheran Church, located at 1583 Radio Drive in Woodbury. A funeral service will take place the following day, December 20, 2023, starting at 11:00, with an hour of visitation beginning at 10:00. Following the service, attendees are welcome to join for a luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Gail’s name to support causes close to her heart, ensuring that her legacy of kindness and service continues.
