Ragon Institute Seeks Assistant Professor in Computational Immunology

The Ragon Institute of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Harvard University is actively seeking a qualified scientist for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. This opportunity is part of an ongoing recruitment process and aims to commence on a mutually agreed date. The successful candidate will hold a primary appointment in the Department of Immunology at Harvard Medical School.

Located in Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA, the Ragon Institute boasts state-of-the-art research facilities. Established in February 2009, it serves as a collaborative hub for faculty from MGH, MIT, and Harvard, focusing on critical areas of immunology, including infectious diseases, autoimmunity, and cancer immunology.

Candidates for this role should have a strong background in computational immunology, artificial intelligence, or machine learning, particularly as it applies to immunology. Applicants must possess a Ph.D. and/or M.D. or an equivalent degree in Biology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields. They should also demonstrate a record of significant achievements in basic or translational research, showcasing their potential to develop an independent research program aligned with the Institute’s mission.

In this position, faculty responsibilities will encompass teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, conducting research, and supervising student research projects. The Ragon Institute will provide a generous start-up package alongside exceptional laboratory and office space. Moreover, access to advanced core facilities—including flow cytometry, microscopy, BSL-3 facilities, and a comprehensive clinical specimen repository—will be available to the successful candidate.

The expectation is for the appointee to cultivate an internationally recognized research program that attracts external funding, supplemented by support from Institute funds. Collaboration with other scientists and the ability to mentor doctoral students from Harvard’s graduate programs will also be essential.
