A recent survey highlights a significant engagement among Millennials and Gen Z in mindfulness and spiritual practices, with 87% of respondents indicating participation in at least one inner-development or ancestral practice. However, only 31% reported openly discussing these practices, suggesting a paradox of high adoption rates coupled with limited social discourse.
Survey Findings and Participant Engagement
Conducted in November 2025 by Munay Live through SurveyMonkey Audience, the survey involved 303 U.S. adults aged 18 to 44 with household incomes exceeding $100,000. Although the results reflect self-reported data and a margin of error of ± 5.7%, they reveal a growing yet largely private movement towards mindfulness. Notably, respondents reported engaging in various practices, including energy work (41%), breathwork (39%), sound-based practices (34%), divination (23%), and shamanic traditions (23%).
When selecting a practitioner, respondents emphasized the importance of practitioner lineage and personal referrals, ranking these factors above cost considerations. A significant 64% of participants deemed the integration of traditional wisdom with modern science as essential or very important.
Barriers to Access and the Need for Trustworthy Practitioners
The survey also uncovered two primary barriers hindering access to these practices. Approximately 28% of respondents expressed a need for support but were unsure of which modality to pursue, indicating a noticeable guidance gap. Furthermore, 17% stated they do not know where to find trustworthy practitioners, highlighting a discovery gap. Only 8% of participants had ever booked a practitioner through social media, underscoring the demand for clearer pathways to explore these practices.
Chakaruna, the founder of Munay Live, commented on these findings, stating, “People are engaging in these practices at remarkable rates, but many feel they can’t talk about them. That silence creates confusion, misinformation, and isolation. Our goal is to offer a space where these traditions can be explored openly.”
Munay Live serves as a platform for individuals to delve into various ancient arts and connect with practitioners from diverse traditions. The platform prioritizes transparency, allowing practitioners to present their lineage and training clearly.
