Community Mourns Loss of Sandra J. Miner After Battle with Cancer

Boscawen, NH – Sandra J. Miner, aged 76, passed away on December 16, 2025, after a determined fight against breast cancer. Her death marks a significant loss for her family and the community that knew her well.

Born on April 5, 1949, in Concord, NH, Sandy was the daughter of Elwyn B. and Annie F. (French) Chamberlin. She grew up in Penacook, where she attended local schools including the Charles Street School and Penacook High School. After graduating, Sandy embarked on a diverse career that included positions at the New Hampshire Aeronautics Commission, J.M. Field’s Snack Bar, and a notable 22-year stint at Alans of Boscawen Restaurant. Most recently, she served as the snack bar cook for the Merrimack Valley School District at the middle school.

Throughout her life, Sandy was actively involved in her community. She was a dedicated member of the Torrent Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Boscawen Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, where she held the position of President for several years.

In addition to her community service, Sandy found joy in various hobbies. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and solving jigsaw and crossword puzzles, as well as engaging in various crafts.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Leonard A. Miner Sr., along with their son Leonard Miner Jr. and his wife Lea from Laconia, and daughter Rebecca Reed and her husband Ed from Salisbury. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Allyssa Miner of Cambridge, MA, and Jacob Miner of Haverhill, MA, as well as numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Annie Chamberlin, her daughter Patience Hibbard, and her brother Stanley Chamberlin of Loudon.

Memorial Services and Contributions

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on December 20 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, located at 172 King Street in Boscawen. A graveside service will take place in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery on Corn Hill Road in Boscawen.
