Wilkes-Barre CTC Celebrates Practical Nursing Graduates on Nov. 14

The Wilkes-Barre Area Career and Technical Center (WBCTC) celebrated the achievements of its Class 132 graduates from the Practical Nursing Program during a commencement ceremony on November 14, 2023. The event took place at the WBCTC auditorium, where family, friends, and faculty gathered to honor the hard work and dedication of the students.

The Practical Nursing Program is directed by Gail Holby, who has overseen the training and education of numerous nursing professionals at the institution. Graduates of this program are prepared to enter the healthcare workforce, equipped with essential skills and knowledge to provide quality patient care.

Class officers played a vital role during the ceremony, with Kara Mackiewicz serving as president, Christy Shimko as secretary, and Melissa McKenney as treasurer. Their leadership helped to organize the event and foster a sense of community among the graduates.

During the ceremony, attendees reflected on the rigorous training that each student underwent to earn their practical nursing diploma. The program emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, preparing graduates for the challenges they will face in various healthcare settings.

As the graduates embark on their professional journeys, they carry the support and encouragement of their peers, instructors, and families. The commencement marks not only the completion of their education but also the beginning of their contributions to the health and well-being of their communities.

The WBCTC continues to play an important role in vocational education, providing students with the necessary skills to excel in their chosen fields. The success of Class 132 serves as a testament to the dedication of the faculty and the commitment of the students to their nursing careers.
