Longtime Santa Cruz resident and community pillar, Sally Cooper, passed away on December 1, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on November 4, 1953, in Long Beach, California, Sally moved to Santa Cruz at the age of nine, where she would later dedicate her life to family and community.

Sally graduated from Soquel High School in 1971, where she met her husband, Kevin Cooper. The couple shared an enduring partnership, celebrating 54 years of marriage filled with love and mutual support. Together, they raised four children: Chris, Brian, Jake, and Amy, who have all spoken fondly of their mother’s unwavering dedication to her family.

Community Impact and Legacy

A passionate advocate for youth and education, Sally devoted many years to coaching youth soccer, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship among young players. Her commitment extended to her role within the Soquel School District, where she worked tirelessly to support students and families. Known for her kindness and energetic spirit, Sally left a profound impact on countless lives, creating a legacy that will be remembered by those she touched.

In addition to her immediate family, Sally is survived by five grandchildren: Bradley, Troy, Logan, Kendall, and Kenzie. Each grandchild carries memories of their grandmother’s warmth and love, which will continue to inspire them as they grow.

A funeral mass will be held in her honor at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, located at 435 Monterey Ave, Capitola, on December 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.. Friends, family, and the community are invited to attend and pay their respects to a woman whose life was marked by love and service.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the SPCA in Sally’s memory, supporting the welfare of animals she held dear. This gesture reflects her compassionate spirit and desire to make a difference in the lives of both people and animals.
