New Career Center Opens in Miami’s Main Library to Support Job Seekers

Job seekers in downtown Miami now have access to a new resource designed to enhance their employment prospects. A collaboration between the Miami-Dade Public Library System and CareerSource South Florida has led to the opening of a hiring and training center located at the Main Library. This facility aims to connect residents with job opportunities and training resources.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for February 17, 2024, during which Mayor Daniella Levine Cava will officially inaugurate the CareerSource South Florida Center. In a press release, Levine Cava stated, “This new CareerSource South Florida Center reflects our commitment to expanding access to job training and employment opportunities for all residents.” This initiative is part of a broader strategy to support the community through a “No Wrong Door” approach, which offers career services, digital literacy training, and access to reliable internet.

The initiative is backed by a significant digital equity grant exceeding $1.2 million from the FloridaCommerce Office of Broadband. This funding is part of a larger investment into Miami-Dade County, which has received more than $13.5 million aimed at enhancing digital resource access under the County’s Broadband and Digital Equity Plan.

The hiring and training center is not only a venue for job hunting. It is equipped with modern technology, dedicated workspaces, and connections to employers. Visitors will receive assistance with resume writing and interview preparation. The operations of the center are managed by workforce development provider Arbor E&T, LLC, and it will be open Monday through Friday from 09:30 to 18:00.

Residents interested in the services offered at the center can find more information through the CareerSource website or by contacting their office directly. For those in the job market or seeking to improve their digital skills, the center is conveniently located at 101 West Flagler Street in downtown Miami.
