The Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District (ISD) has officially selected the Walsh Gallegos Law Firm to spearhead its search for a new superintendent. The decision was made during a special meeting on February 3, 2026, reflecting the district’s commitment to finding a leader who can foster strong relationships within its educational community.
Walsh Gallegos brings over 40 years of experience in school law, serving as legal counsel for approximately 500 public school districts across Texas. The firm, with offices located in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, is recognized for its deep understanding of the dynamics between school boards and superintendents. According to a statement from the district, they are “uniquely familiar with the importance of a strong working relationship between the board and its superintendent.”
The upcoming process will involve collaboration between the district’s trustees and Walsh Gallegos to establish a timeline for selecting the new superintendent and to develop a candidate profile. Following this, the firm will begin accepting applications from potential candidates.
Currently, Rick Demasters serves as the interim superintendent. He joined the district in December and has more than 30 years of experience in Texas public education. His leadership comes after the resignation of Brad Schnautz, who left the position in November to pursue another opportunity with the Education Service Center Region 11. Schnautz had been with Grapevine-Colleyville ISD since 2023.
This important search process reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to ensuring strong leadership for its schools. The choice of Walsh Gallegos highlights a strategic effort to navigate the complexities of school governance effectively. The district aims to find a candidate who will not only manage day-to-day operations but also enhance the educational experience for students and staff alike.
As the search progresses, the community will be kept informed about developments and opportunities to engage in the process. The goal is to appoint a superintendent who aligns with the district’s vision and values, ultimately contributing to the growth and success of its educational programs.
