Back Mountain Community Celebrates with Art, Food, and Festivities

The Back Mountain community is gearing up for an exciting series of events on **November 29, 2025**, celebrating local art, crafts, and holiday spirit. The day features the **49th Annual Thanksgiving Student Art Exhibit**, showcasing a wide range of artistic talent from students aged **9 to 93**.

Taking place at **Sue Hand’s Imagery** in Dallas, the exhibit will be open from **9 a.m. to 4 p.m.** Visitors can expect to see various works, including impressionistic and realistic pieces across all fine art media, such as landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. Renowned local artist and educator **Sue Hand** will be present to engage with attendees, answering questions about the artwork and demonstrating her own artistic process.

In addition to the art exhibit, the **Dallas Eastern Star Building Association** will host a craft, vendor, and gift sale on the same day, running from **9 a.m. to 2 p.m.** at **15 Foster Street, Dallas**. The event will feature a sale of traditional Welsh cookies, as well as lunch items available for purchase.

Upcoming Events for the Community

Looking ahead, the **Grace Community Church** will hold an author luncheon on **December 4, 2025**, featuring local author **Jo Ann Walczak**, who will discuss her book, **“The Walk on Layton.”** The event begins at **11 a.m.** and is free to the public, although RSVPs are required by **December 1**. Each child will receive a complimentary photo with Santa and a gift.

The community can also participate in a wreath-making event hosted by the **North Branch Land Trust** on **December 6** from **10 a.m. to noon**. This event will take place near **Dallas Township Municipal Building** and involves a nature walk focusing on sustainable foraging. Participants will create their own holiday wreaths, with costs set at **$20** for members and **$30** for non-members.

Ongoing Community Initiatives

The **Northmoreland Volunteer Fire Company** is set to host bingo events on **December 8** and **December 22**, with doors opening at **5:30 p.m.** each night. No RSVP is needed for this fun community gathering.

The **Harvest Church** will present “The Gift,” an outdoor theater performance scheduled for **December 12** and **13** at **6 p.m.**, and **December 14** at **6 p.m.** Seating is first-come, first-served, and the event is free to the public.

For those seeking a reflective experience, the **St. Paul’s Lutheran Church** will host a labyrinth walk from **3 p.m. to 6 p.m.** on the third Wednesday of the month, with the next walk scheduled for **December 17**. Lastly, the **Project Donating Joy** quilt group meets every Monday from **9 a.m. to noon** at the **Trucksville United Methodist Church**. New members are always welcome as they create quilts for children in need.
