Lane Kiffin Gains $250,000 Bonus from Ole Miss Playoff Victory

Lane Kiffin secured a significant financial bonus following the Ole Miss Rebels’ impressive victory over the Tulane Green Wave in the first round of the College Football Playoff. Although Kiffin did not coach the game due to his recent transition to the LSU Tigers, the terms of his departure stipulated that he would receive a bonus of $250,000 for every playoff win Ole Miss achieved.

The Rebels showcased their strength with a decisive 41-10 win against Tulane, which not only boosted their playoff hopes but also enhanced Kiffin’s financial standing. According to CBS Sports, if Ole Miss continues its winning streak and ultimately claims the national championship, Kiffin could earn a total bonus of up to $1 million.

Despite the physical toll on some players, Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss managed to deliver an outstanding performance, completing the game with three touchdowns—two from rushing and one through the air. Kiffin expressed his pride in the team’s success, congratulating the coaches and players through a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“Congrats to all the coaches and players @OleMissFB and especially @CoachGolding and seeing his two boys on the sidelines,” Kiffin wrote. “Great win today.” This victory marked a significant milestone for Pete Golding, who celebrated his first win as head coach of Ole Miss, stepping into the role following Kiffin’s departure.

In a post-game interview, Golding acknowledged the supportive atmosphere among the players, emphasizing their enjoyment of teamwork. “They don’t want it to end,” he noted, reflecting on the collective spirit driving the team forward.

Defensive coordinator Bryan Brown praised Golding’s leadership, stating, “He controls the room. He controls the narrative in anything that he wants to control. The guys believe in him just like they do defensively, and you can see it turning over to our full team.” Brown described Golding as a “great human being, great coach, great motivator,” predicting his enduring success in coaching.

Kiffin, who replaced Brian Kelly as LSU’s head coach on December 1, 2025, has continued to capture attention within college football. His departure from Ole Miss has generated discussions about the future of both programs as they navigate the competitive landscape of college athletics.

As the playoffs progress, all eyes will remain on Ole Miss as they aim for further triumphs, while Kiffin’s financial incentives create an added layer of intrigue to the unfolding season.
